Sept. 11, 2008

Well I'm in Canada.  The flight was good.  Sister Crapse and I got to talk to our immigration officer about the church who had lots of different questions about the church.  The whole time I was waiting for him to say that he was already a member, but he didn't.  I think that's when I realized that we are no longer talking to fake investigators.  These are real people wanting to know about the church.  I didn't treat him like that, but it was an eye opener.

We were picked up by our Mission President and went to his house for dinner which was divine!  We had some meetings then slept at his house that night.  The next day we had more meetings and met our trainers.  My trainer's name is Sister Arthur from NC.  She is very nice.  She is actually a runner and I told her I wanted to do the Wasatch Back one day or at least run longer and better, so she said she would train me.

A big thing this mission focusses on is OYM-open your mouth..This is to EVERYONE!  so we saw this girl and Sis. A. told me to talk to her...so I run up to her and say  hi, um, I'm Sis Kamalu....and uh....want a card?   hahahahaha oh man it was funny.  But already, just talking to more people in these last hours I have improved.
Yesterday we just jumped right in to things, going to meet with an investigator, teaching a lesson, going to meet another one.  I knew this would happen so I tried to prepare.  but I don't know.  There's just this cool feeling that happens.  It's fun.

I just noticed your blog. I am learning about blogging but don't think I will do one.
Today we went to a viewing for the son of a friend who died in an auto accident. While it was sad, it was happy also to know that this life is not the end. The son was a recent returned missionary. I think he will be a good one on the other side.

We are studying Preach My Gospel for family nights. There is so much to learn in there. We know the principles but being able to present them would be another thing. At least our scriptures are getting a workout.

It has been very cold here. The snow is so pretty. Our whole town looks so beautiful, even places that looked junky and had lots of weeds. The day of reckoning will come when the snow melts. Today I thought about how that could be like judgement day. We may all look nice now but when the final judgement comes, some of us may look pretty bad.

How's that for a thought? I hope both our yard and the final event will find us on the nice side.

Keep up the good work.
Love Grandma
